The Southeast/North event #2 was blessed with fantastic weather and waves at New Smyrna Beach Inlet on Saturday, October 11th. Virginia Beach standout Laird Myers made the trip south and rose to the occasion big time! He put on a dynamic performance clinching four division victories in the Open Boys, Explorer Menehuene, Explorer Boys and Open Juniors. Throughout the event in all of his divisions, he continued to impress the judges with his strong surfing display as he posted an average 14 points out of a possible 20 in every heat. NSSA Newcomer Nick Groshell turned heads on the beach as he put on a powerful performance taking double wins in the Open Mens and Explorer Juniors. Nikita Pandelos took the win in the Explorer Mens. The girls were enjoying the good waves at the Inlet. Braidyn Cunningham claimed her first win of the season in the Explorer Girls division and Molly Kirk took her first win of the season in the Open Girls. And speaking of girls, watch out for this female grom Ava McGowan who was on fire at this contest taking the win in the Open Mini Groms! Charlie Hajak’s streak continues as he sealed his second straight win in Super Seniors. NSSA newcomers put up great performances this weekend. Solon McLaughlin appeared in his first event winning the Super Groms while Laney Brooks took command of the Women’s categories winning both the Open and Explorer Women’s finals.
