MID ATLANTIC EVENT #5 GOES OFF AT SURF CITY AS SURFERS BEGING TUNING UP FOR THE UPCOMING EAST COAST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Contest #5 was held on Saturday, February 6th in Surf City, NC. The morning was brisk and chilly with occasional waist high sets. Long boarders opened the surf contest with Trip Chandler placing 1st in Open Longboard and 1st in Explorer Longboard. Trip’s form on the longboard included cross-stepping and hang 10’s, also provided him with the highest scoring wave of the day. Blayr Barton continues to be a Mid-Atlantic shredder with a 1st in Open Boys, 1st Explorer Menehuene and 2nd in Explorer Boys. Blayr’s radical sharp turns and catching air placed him in 1st in two categories. Leah Thompson placed 1st in Open Women and Explorer Women. Leah is adding some new talent to our women’s division. We have several new mini groms. Charles Oblinger took 1st in Open Mini-Groms and 1st Explorer Super Groms. Charles is blowing up his first season with NSSA. Rachel Wilson placed 1st Explorer Super Girls, 1st Open Girls and 2nd Open Women. Rachel is a great competitor with the boys or girls and has great sportmanship. Seth Brown claimed 1st in Open Juniors with a stacked heat as well as Dylon Weeks taking 1st in Explorer Boys. Our traveling surfer, Bo Raynor, was in town for our contest and took 1st Open Men and 1st Explorer Juniors. Look out, Bo will be a contender at Regionals.
